Overview
ArchMateria is a bilingual, SaaS-style platform designed to help architects, suppliers, and manufacturers discover, compare, and manage architectural materials through a curated, visually-led experience spanning Chinese and international markets. The product vision extends beyond material discovery to include simulated material applications through 3D renderings, enabling architects to explore and save possibilities before progressing to physical samples.
Outcome
Designed a material discovery platform connecting architects, suppliers, and manufacturers through a curated digital ecosystem.
Created scalable UX systems supporting:
material exploration
supplier visibility
cross-market workflows
Challenges
Architectural material sourcing is often fragmented across disconnected supplier catalogues, websites, PDFs, and offline communication channels.
The project also required aligning stakeholders around a broader platform and ecosystem vision.
Early expectations were primarily focused on UI presentation rather than scalable workflows, product thinking, and long-term UX systems.
The platform needed to balance:
bilingual user experiences
material discovery workflows
supplier ecosystems
and scalable design systems
across Chinese and international markets.
